Children's Psychotherapy

Child and adolescent Psychotherapy

Children and teenagers often struggle to make sense of overwhelming emotions, whether it’s anxiety, low confidence, trauma, or family stress. I offer developmentally attuned therapy that meets each young person where they are, helping them feel safe, understood, and emotionally equipped to navigate life’s challenges.

🧸 Play Therapy for Younger Children

For younger children, I use play-based therapy to support emotional expression and regulation. Many children don’t yet have the words to describe how they feel—but through play, they can show us. I use tools like sand trays, Play-Doh, puppets, emotion cards, and role-play to help children explore their inner world in a way that feels natural and safe.

Play therapy allows children to:

  • Process difficult experiences without pressure

  • Build emotional literacy and resilience

  • Strengthen their sense of self and safety

  • Develop trust within a consistent therapeutic relationship

I work gently and responsively, always at the child’s pace. My goal is to help children feel seen, soothed, and supported—so they can begin to thrive emotionally, socially, and developmentally.

🧠 Relational Therapy for Adolescents

Teenagers often face complex emotional landscapes—identity, relationships, school pressure, trauma, or family dynamics. I offer a relational, conversational approach that respects their growing autonomy while still providing emotional containment and structure.

With adolescents, I create a space for:

  • Honest reflection and emotional exploration

  • Support around anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, and identity

  • Processing trauma, loss, or family disruption

  • Building coping strategies and emotional insight

I use creative tools when appropriate, but I also offer space for dialogue, curiosity, and connection. Teenagers often need someone who can meet them without judgment—someone who can hold their complexity and help them make sense of what’s going on inside. That’s what I offer.

🌟 My Experience

Supporting emotional growth from early childhood through adolescence

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and young people aged 4 to 18, supporting them through a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. Whether I’m working with a quiet four-year-old struggling with separation anxiety or a teenager navigating trauma, identity, or low mood, my focus is always the same: to create a space that feels emotionally safe, attuned, and empowering.

With younger children, I draw on my training in play therapy to help them express what they may not yet have words for. I use creative tools like teddy bears, puppets, sand trays, and role-play to stimulate imagination and support emotional processing. These activities aren’t just “play”—they’re a child’s natural language, and they allow me to meet them where they are developmentally, helping them feel seen, soothed, and supported.

With adolescents, I offer a more conversational, relational approach—one that respects their growing independence while still providing emotional containment. I create a space where teenagers can reflect, explore, and speak freely, without fear of judgment. I also provide a range of sensory tools—fidget toys, kinetic sand, therapeutic clay, and other tactile resources—to support regulation and focus during sessions.

🎨 My Approach

Creativity, consistency, and emotional safety at the heart of every session

Each child receives a personalised therapy box to decorate and make their own. This box becomes a safe container for the creations they make during our sessions—drawings, stories, symbols, or sensory items—which they can take home at the end of our work together. This process helps children feel ownership over their journey and creates a tangible sense of continuity and safety.

In our first session, we co-create a child-friendly agreement that sets out clear boundaries and expectations. This helps children understand what therapy is, what they can expect from me, and how we’ll work together. It also reinforces the message that this is their space—a place where they can express themselves freely, without pressure or judgment.
